Hu Baocheng, also known as Zhugen, the owner of Zhugen Residence, was born in 1958ZhejiangJiande City, Province. During my middle school years, I was enlightened and taught by Mr. Zhang Jian from the Department of Fine Arts at Tsinghua University, laying a solid foundation in painting.
In 1985, I pursued further studies in calligraphy and seal carving at the Correspondence College of Oriental Fine Arts and Television, and graduated;
Joined the Chinese Contemporary Hard Pen Calligraphy Association in 1991Hebei ProvinceProvincial branch members; Later, he was deeply influenced by famous landscape painters such as Li Ming, current director of Xin'an Painting Academy at Qiandao Lake Creative Base of China Artists Association, famous landscape painter Li Fu'an, deputy director of Beijing Mustard Seed Garden Painting Academy, director of Beijing Jinghua Academy of Fine Arts, flower and bird painter Zhang Li, member of Beijing Artists Association, deputy director of Beijing Dynasty Shengshi Painting Academy, famous calligrapher Mei Liqiong, member of China Calligraphers Association, director of Beijing Xinhua Rongmei Painting Academy, image ambassador of Chinese calligraphy and painting industry, and master of Chinese art communication.Calligraphy works incorporate the Confucian spirit of neutrality, perseverance, and courage, as well as the Taoist philosophy of natural relaxation, tranquility, and leisure. The pen is powerful, with a moderate range of strokes and vigorous movements. In his painting skills, he pays attention to imitating nature, insists on sketching from the ground, and follows the ancients without being muddy. Especially in the more than 30 years of designing and creating folk "bench dragons", he has enriched his artistic ideas, accumulated rich artistic expression and creative experience. Gradually applied the essence of practical arts and crafts to the creation of Chinese painting, and made outstanding artistic achievements in freehand landscape painting and flower and bird painting. He created the peony painting "Blossoming with Wealth and Prosperity" and was recommended as a reference work for diplomatic relations due to its freshness, elegance, and luxury. He created ten works of landscape, flowers and birds, and calligraphy, which were also selected as commemorative stamps for the 36th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. In 2015, he was honored to be selected as one of the top ten calligraphy and painting figures of China's good brands. His works are loved and widely collected by calligraphy and painting collectors as well as people at home and abroad. In 1986, his calligraphy work "Moonlight over the Lotus Pond" won the first prize at the Jiande Calligraphy Exhibition
In 2011, he won the Excellent Award in the first National Calligraphy and Painting Competition of "Ode to the Countryside", and his works were collected by the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Navigation Network of the Cultural Industry Department of the Chinese Local Art Association;
In 2013, his stool dragon work won the Silver Award for Dragon Dance Art in Zhejiang Province and was highly praised by colleagues in China.
In 2014, his work "Bench Dragon" was specially interviewed by Zhejiang TV, Journal of Zhejiang Media College, Zhejiang Daily and other media for its outstanding contribution to promoting folk art, and was declared as an intangible cultural heritage of Zhejiang Province, receiving praise as the "First Dragon of China".
In April 2016, his landscape paintings such as "Long and Long History" and "High Mountains and Long Waters" were selected for the Beijing Starlight Film and Television Park International Famous Artists Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition and won the first prize. This year, some of his outstanding calligraphy and painting works have also been honored to be selected for the 95th anniversary collection of the founding of the Communist Party of China by China Post, becoming influential calligraphers and painters in China.
